Black-steel monolithic guardrail with concealed top-mounted brackets, on a custom red-oak stair.
The Problem
A 1960s Mississauga renovation with a refinished red-oak open stair needed a guardrail that disappeared visually but met current OBC guard loads.
Our Solution
We engineered a 3/8" flat-bar top rail and 1/2" round vertical pickets at 4" spacing, terminated into concealed steel brackets bolted into structural blocking. Powder-coat matte black RAL 9005.
Outcome
A guardrail that reads as a single sculptural element, code-compliant, and visually invisible against the warm wood — exactly the brief.
